Before it became a hit CBC television series, Heartland began as a sprawling collection of twenty five novels penned by the prolific Lauren Brooke. The stories center on the Heartland ranch, a place of hope and healing for injured horses, and the Fleming family who own and operate it.
The first and second seasons saw the television series break into the national consciousness and immediately garner significant ratings. With production about to start for a third season, Heartland has become a landmark Canadian television event, with a steadily growing viewership and ever-better critical acclaim.
Now with broadcasts in France, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg and even Senegal, Heartland is well on its way to becoming a breakout international success... which goes to prove that the themes of horses, healing and family drama resonate with a global audience.
